Everglades National Park is cooperating in the Inter-Agency Florida Panther Recovery Project, an effort to study and save the 26 to 50 Florida Panthers (Felis Concolor Coryi) that remain alive. Loss of habitat is the primary reason for their decline. The panthers (state mammal) have been tracked since 1986. Some have been lost to road accidents. The panthers hunt deer. |
